Youth With A Mission
Derby is called to pioneer new expressions of Urban Mission both in the UK and Europe while imparting God’s Heart for the hopeless and lost peoples of the world through Our Discipleship Training Schools.
We believe God has called us as a team to Partner with the Churches of the city to reach out to young people with the truth of life-changing hope in Jesus.
In the past we have pioneered a work to the women caught in the sex trade (Restore) and a city wide youth gathering (Fuel) that draws young people together to be disciples, worship God and be inspired to reach out to others.
There are seasons of ministry and the season we are in now is focused on the young people that hang around the City’s Market Square (Jackals and Owls, from Isaiah Ch 43 vs 20 ) and those who are resident in the YMCA Hostel. Both are devoid of hope unable to see any other path in life other than drugs, alcohol and crime, but the root is so often a huge sense of rejection or a huge love deficit in their lives that can only be overcome by the Love of God being shown consistently by His people.
Kindness Leads to repentance
Romans Ch 2 Vs 4
“Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?”
A definition:
Kindness is the ability to recognise the needs of others and take steps to meet those needs. Kindness is understanding. It's compassion.
If we do not demonstrate the truth of God’s love and desire for relationship with them how will they know that there is hope for them?
